Jessica Oates is a freelance photographer based within Birmingham in the West Midlands.

"After gaining experience in a number of photographic fields including portrait and documentary photography; I found that my passion lies within fashion and performance photography.

I like to create bright images through my choice of lighting and use of colour. My images are structured through use of classical composition and how I frame my photographs. I also like to produce clear photographs that are crisp and sharp. I think that my imaginative approach to photography combined with my versatility and passion help to create visually interesting images.

I love working in performance photography capturing personality and those key dramatic moments of the show. I aim to tell the story of the show and I consider all aspects of the performance important. I enjoy photographing behind the scenes and at rehearsals documenting moments that are often missed."

Jessica graduated from Birmingham City University with a Masters of Art in Freelance Photography (Commendation) in 2012. She also has a First Class BA (hons) degree in Media Studies and Communication (Media Photography).
